BACKGROUND
Buckman house which was named after an amazing woman is in the person of Madam Paulina Buckman; one of the early teachers who served in the school from the year 1960 to 1979. She taught geography and Fanti-Twi. Madam Paulina Buckman was a great disciplinarian who saw to the welfare of students in both at the house and school level with dedication, diligence and innovativeness. Currently, there are two Housemistresses and House Prefects who take care of the affairs of the house.

ENROLLMENT
The current enrolment into the house is as follows:
- Year 3 – 160 students
- Year 2 – 156 students
- Year 1 – 100 students
Total enrolment = 416 students
FACILITIES IN THE HOUSE
Buckman House is a one-story building with;
- 4 big dormitories
- 1 medium size dormitories
- 2 small cubicles
- 6 cubicles inbuilt washroom
- 2 cubicles inbuilt bath room
- 10 cubicles detached washrooms (outside)
- 1 open bath room
ACTIVITIES / MEETINGS
- The house meets every Sunday afternoon between 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
- Cleaning of the house and its environs/the compound is done by the students on daily basis i.e., sweeping, scrubbing and also weeding around the house when necessary.
- Thorough sanitation work is done on weekends.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- During the schools 2024 SRC week celebration, the main house prefect (Freda) was crowned FACE of AGISS.
- The house won the best House Prefect (who is Georgina Aboagye the assistant prefect) during the 2024 SRC week celebration.
- The house again won the best house for the cooking competition during the 2-week celebration.
- The house won the 5th position during the inter-house sports activities.

- Best house of the year during the 2023 SRC week celebration
Buckman House also emphasizes the importance of values such as discipline, respect, and integrity. Students are encouraged to embody these principles, promoting a positive atmosphere within the house and the wider school community. The legacy of Buckman House is built on fostering personal growth, academic achievement, and a sense of belonging, making it a vital part of the Accra Girls’ Senior High School experience.
As students pass through the halls of Buckman House, they leave with not only cherished memories but also skills and values that will guide them throughout their lives, ensuring the house continues to thrive for generations to come.
