Background Information

COBBINAH HOUSE

Formerly Pink House I

Cobbinah House, formerly known as Pink House I, is one of the cherished residential houses of Accra Girls’ Senior High School. In 2025, the house was officially renamed in honour of Mrs. Kate Cobbinah, who served as Headmistress of the school from 1981 to 1995. Mrs. Cobbinah’s leadership and legacy continue to inspire generations of young women to pursue excellence with discipline and purpose.

Originally created in the 1970s, Pink House I was dissolved at a point to make room for more classrooms, but it was reinstated in 2018 following a sharp increase in student population as a result of the Free SHS policy. The house was revived under the leadership of then Headmistress Mrs. Joyce Sah Acolatse, an alumna of the school and a proud member of the original Pink House during her student days.
