CHAPLAINCY DEPARTMENT
REPORT OF THE CHAPLAINCY DEPARTMENT FROM JANUARY TO AUGUST 2024
Introduction
Chaplaincy is a department of the school mandated to give spiritual and moral guidance to the school. The Committee has emphasized the importance of moral values and living upright. The various Denominations are required to imbibe into their members the beliefs of their religious organization and fellowship with God in the way they know Him. Efforts have been made to promote unity and understanding among members of different denominational backgrounds through Vespers where moral living is emphasized in preaching.
Programmes and Activities
The Chaplaincy Committee has engaged in several activities from the beginning of the year until now. Key among these activities are:
- Regular Sunday vespers are held in the evenings.
- Weekly prayer sessions of stewards.
- Monthly Prayer sessions/retreats for all student leaders
- Induction services for SHS 1 Students
- Week of prayer and fasting session for final year students.
- Baptism and Confirmation service for some students
- Communion Services for students who are communicants
- Induction and commendation service for denominational executives
Achievements
By the sole grace of God, with support from the school’s management, the Chaplaincy Department has chalked some successes. Key amongst these include but are not limited to the following:
- The Department has made progress in promoting morality and unity, as well as engaging the school community to promote these virtues.
- Improvement in discipline and orderliness at functions
- Strengthened relationships among members through fellowship and unity-building efforts.
- Installation of sound system in the Assembly Hall
- Procurement of a sixteen–channelled Yamaha mixer.
- Procurement of four–in–one Shure Microphones.
- Procurement of a set of rechargeable batteries.
- Procurement of a new Pulpit.
- Repair and maintenance of some equipment and instruments.
Way Forward
- A beef up of instruments for organizing various programmes.
- Develop a strategic plan to address the indiscipline during school functions.
- Explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborations with other stakeholders and organizations.
- Venture into photography as another means of generating funds for Chaplaincy’s activities.
Conclusion
The Chaplaincy Department is grateful to the Almighty God for His grace and mercies lavished on the school community and the Chaplaincy Department. We are also thankful to the Headmistress, Management, Staff and students for the immense support we have received as a department.
SCRIPTURE UNION (S.U.) AGISS
Working with Christian teachers, Scripture Union aims to make God’s Word known to young people and adults in the school environment. This is to help them mature spiritually, build a personal relationship with God, and become both committed church members and servants of God. Accra Girls’ Scripture Union can boast of four hundred members. Our meeting days are Fridays for the day students and every two weeks Sunday for the boarders.
NATIONAL UNION OF PRESBYTERIAN STUDENTS-GHANA (NUPS-G)
ACCRA GIRLS’ BRANCH
This Union is made up of all Presbyterian Students and students who are non-members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana but express interest in the Union’s activities and identify with the objectives and beliefs of NUPS-G.
The Motto of the NUPS-G is ‘For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.’ (Philippians 1:21) and the Slogan: NUPS-G! Response: For Christ!
One key objective of the NUPS-G is to inculcate in members, the fear of God by employing effective Bible Study and Prayer and to encourage effective witnessing for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Currently, the Membership of the NUPS-G is 199.
Three patrons guide the NUPS-G in organizing their activities.
THE CHRIST APOSTOLIC STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION – AGISS (CASA)
CASA AGISS was formed by Mrs. Racheal Darkwah in the year 2019 to bring children of Christ Apostolic Church together and help them continue this service to God following the doctrines of the church. CASA AGISS has a total of six executives including the President, Secretary Financial Secretary, Prayer Secretary, and two Organizers.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Christ Apostolic Church International as part of the body of Christ, exists to bring Salvation in Christ to all persons in the world by preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ as in the Holy Scriptures, the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct, disciplining believers towards Christian maturity and worshipping of the Triune God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Vision Statement
Knowing Christ and making disciples of all nations, tribes and people constituting them into a Bible-Believing church for the worship, edification and evangelization of the world.
THE GHANA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ADVENTIST STUDENTS (GNASS AGISS)
The Ghana National Association of Adventist Students (GNAAS) at Accra Girls’ Senior High School is a vibrant society that kicked off in May, 2022. It has since then served as a platform for students to strengthen their connection and faith in God. This society fosters spiritual growth, promotes Christian values, and engages in community service. Through regular meetings and worship sessions on Saturday at 2:00 pm, GNAAS supports students in their faith journeys while contributing positively to the school and the broader community. The organization plays a major role in integrating religious education with everyday student life, enhancing the holistic development of its members.
The society has a population of forty-two (42) of which form ones are Eleven (11), form twos sixteen (16) and form threes fifteen (15).

Assemblies of God Campus Ministries (AGCM)
Membership Attendance
Despite having a membership of 210, the average attendance at regular meetings is 95 members. This suggests that less than 50% of the total membership is actively participating in meetings.
Activities and Programs
The Association offers a range of programs designed to enhance the skills, spiritual growth, and social well-being of its members. Key activities include:
Skills Development Programs: The Association organizes skills development sessions, with a focus on practical skills such as pastry making. These programs are aimed at equipping members with valuable skills that can contribute to their personal and professional growth.
Spiritual Development: The Association places a strong emphasis on the spiritual growth of its members. Reverend Ministers from our mother churches are invited to preach to our members. Regular programs, such as Bible discussion, Prayer and fasting are organized to develop our members.
Social Development: In addition to spiritual and skills development, the Association also focuses on fostering a sense of community among our members. Social events and activities are organized to strengthen relationships and build a supportive network within the Association.
AGCM continues to play a vital role in the lives of students of Accra Girls SHS. We continue to pray for more grace and wisdom to draw students closer to their maker.
Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA) – Accra Girls’ Senior High School Chapter
Brief History: The Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA) was established as a platform for Muslim students across educational institutions in Ghana to unite, strengthen their Islamic faith, and promote academic excellence. The Accra Girls’ Senior High School chapter of GMSA was created to provide a supportive environment for Muslim students within the school, where they can grow spiritually, academically, and socially. Over the years, this chapter has grown in both membership and influence, significantly contributing to its members’ spiritual and academic development.
Objectives:
- To Foster Unity and Faith
- To Promote Academic Excellence
- To Engage in Community Service
- To Facilitate Inter-Faith Dialogue
- To Participate in School Projects
- To Celebrate Islamic Heritage
Activities:
- Weekly Meetings: The association holds weekly meetings, providing a platform for students to come together, discuss religious obligations, and share reminders, including performing Salat (prayers).
- Islamic Knowledge Sessions: Regular study sessions and seminars are organized to deepen members’ understanding of the Quran, Hadith, and other Islamic teachings.
- Community Service: GMSA members participate in various community service activities, such as charity drives, visits to orphanages, and environmental clean-up projects.
- Mentorship Programs: Senior GMSA members mentor junior students, offering academic guidance and spiritual support to ensure their holistic development.
- Annual Ramadan Ac vi es: A month-long event during Ramadan, featuring grand iftar, Ramadan talks, counseling sessions, and cultural and educational programs to celebrate and share Islamic values and traditions.
- End of Islamic Year Actvities: In Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar, the chapter organizes lectures, quizzes, leadership training, and homecoming events, along with mentorship follow-ups.
Other Relevant Information:
Membership: The association is open to all Muslim students of Accra Girls’ Senior High School, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds and fostering inclusivity and unity.
Leadership: GMSA is led by a dedicated team of student leaders, under the supervision of patrons who provide guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the association’s activities.
Collaboration: The chapter collaborates with other GMSA chapters in various schools, participating in joint events and competitions that build a sense of belonging to the broader Muslim community in Ghana.
Through its various activities, the Accra Girls’ Senior High School chapter of GMSA aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who excel in both their faith and academic pursuits.
